Santa Fe Community Gallery - Easy to Miss - Impossible to Forget

Santa Fe is blessed with over a hundred fine art galleries, hundreds of artist's studios. memorable museums featuring folk art,  Georgia O'Keeffe, Native American arts, history and far, far more.  Regional studio tours, Native celebrations and gallery walks  and learning opportunities span the calendar year 'round and offer selections and collections that are appealing to a wide range of incomes, tastes and values.

Often overlooked - but never forgotten once experienced - is the Santa Fe Community Gallery -  located at 201 W. Marcy (Marcy and Sheridan)  just a couple of highly wanderable blocks off the plaza near the center of town.  The Gallery is tucked under a portal and part of the beautiful new Santa Fe Community Convention Center - which also features some incredible installation art from artists like Roxanne Swentzel and numerous famous others.

Santa Fe Community Gallery's  Manager, Rod Lambert, masterfully gathers works from professional artists of all kinds that are thematic - like the Watershed - or Women's Emerging Arts - and rotates shows throughout the year.  The gallery is free. It  has a small collectors gift shop that sells one-of-a-kind, affordable - and often functional - works from New Mexico Artisans.

You can check current exhibitions and gallery hours at www.santafenm.gov/communitygallery. Note the gallery is generally closed on Sunday and Monday so plan accordingly - but don't miss it! Enjoy!
